چکیده
This article presents an experimental study on the hygric performance of brick masonry with a special focus hydraulic characterization brick-mortar interface. The behavior was studied at level constituent materials as well composite scale. An extruded fired-clay and two types mortar –Portland cement natural lime mortar– were chosen target materials. properties determined following prescribed procedures. program included vacuum saturation tests, static gravimetric tests for adsorption/desorption isotherms, dry/wet cup capillary absorption isothermal one-dimensional drying. results allowed comprehensive identification main features Fired-clay revealed low hygroscopicity strong capillary-active negligible hysteresis, whereas showed activity in both hygroscopic ranges distinct moisture storage hysteresis. Different curing conditions led to dissimilar between prepared molds same cured bed joints. Water bricks marked anisotropic behavior, likely derived from extrusion process. existence imperfect contact interface demonstrated water absorption. Conversely, interfacial effect drying kinetics not evident.

Mechanical Properties of Clay Brick Masonry Bound with Hydraulic Limes and Hydrated Calcium Lime
Due to their physical and chemical properties, mortars made with lime are considered to be more compatible with historic fabrics than those made with artificial cements. This paper explores the mechanical properties of clay brick masonry bound with hydraulic limes of different strengths, and hydrated calcium lime (CL90-s) with no hydraulic properties. Masonry wallettes built with a CL90-s morta...
متن کاملInfluence of Mortar Water Content on the Strength of Lime Mortar Masonry
Water content affects mortar properties and the quality of the resultant masonry, however, it is often subjectively determined by the mason by assessing workability. This lack of explicit methodology and data, can lead to lack of mortar consistency and field performance, adversely affecting full uptake of lime mortars into mainstream technology. The aim of this research is to assist develop con...

Water content affects mortar and masonry properties however, it is often determined by the mason assessing mortar workability. This can lead to lack of consistency and variable masonry performance. This paper investigates the compressive, flexural and bond strength and stiffness of brick masonry bound with natural hydraulic limes (NHL2, 3.5 and 5), hydrated lime (calcium limeCL90s) and cement-l...
